Shanhaiguan, the pass between the mountains and the sea, is a town at the northern tip of the Bohai Gulf, originally built as a fortress in the Ming dynasty, to defend the eastern end of the Great Wall. The town was originally built to protect the most easterly section of the Great Wall (Changcheng) that still runs through the eastern city walls, before winding south to the sea. The Eastern Gate (Zhengyuan Lou), a double storey, double roofed tower built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD) attracts most visitors.

The scenic spot covers an area of 190 thousand square kilometers. It belongs to temperate zone maritime climate. The forest is very green, the air is fresh, the scene is beautiful. There is neither cold winter nor hot summer.. It mixes old architecture, garden, sculpture in one. It follows the main line that Emperor Qin Shihuang searched for the longevity to the east, shows the historic bachground of the Warring States Periods. The main scenic spots include Qinfengfamen, Shi Huaang Deshixing Big Group Sculpture, Warring States Period Flavor, Qiuxian Palace, Qiuxian Road, Qiuxian Garden, Xianrenci, etc. There are two luxurious yatch on the sea which could hold 500 people each.

Zushan virgin forest canyon is located 25 kilometers northwest of Qinghuangdao City, and is close to Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan and Liaoning. It is a national scenic spot, national geographic garden, and a protection zoon for rare plants and animals. Zushan has a long history, and its environment is original, simple, natural and harmonious. It is honored as the best mountain tour resource around Beijing area. Biluota(bar) Garden embodies nature, pay attention to leisure and it is the bar garden with the feature of night culture, sea culture, and food culture. Biluo Tower, the main building of the park is the highest point of the East Mountain Area of the coast. The tower is 21 meters high with several floors. It is a unique sightseeing tower of the world. The park is appointed as the Whiffing Base at Sea, Diving Base at Sea, Beach Needfire Evening Base by Beikdaihe Tourism Bureau. It organizes various kinds of activities such as needfire evening, beer salon and whiffing which would leave a pleasant memory for you.

Four kilometers south of Shanhaiguan, Laolongtou is the easternmost end of the Great Wall, which stretches 23 meters into the sea like a dragon drinking water, hence its name. Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty would stop here for a visit on their way to Fengtian (Present - day Shenyang) to worship their ancestors, which makes the city even more worthy of its name. Standing at Laolongtou, facing the misty sea, visitors can easily picture Emperor Qin (221-207 BC), the first emperor of China, sending people into the sea here to find a drug that would give him immortality.
